Healthy Meal Choices for Healthy Residents
Healthy eating habits are key to living well. We all know that it is important to eat fruits and vegetables as well as reduce added sugar. But actually eating healthy can be a challenge. Roland Park Place’s Dining team plans, sources, and cooks delicious meals for all residents throughout the continuum of care.
Our team works with a dietician to plan a menu to meet a variety of diets such as those who are vegetarian and pescatarian. Our menu now features a vegetarian option at all meals. Everyone’s personal tastes are important and to keep the food staying interesting, a resident board meets with the director of dining to give feedback.
The nutrition information for the menu is provided every day so that you can have a three-course dinner while meeting your dietary needs. Our chef uses seasonings and herbs to keep dishes low in salt and high in flavor. A balanced dinner can include a salad for the appetizer, a fish entrée with rice and vegetables, and fruit for dessert. You can also indulge in sugar-free ice cream if you are watching your sugar intake.
Ingredients are sourced for their high quality and locality. The burger meat we use comes from a local organic farm and many of our herbs are grown by residents in the chef’s garden. Having access to fresh ingredients guarantees that your meal will be nutritious and tasty.
Next week’s blog post will continue the wellness series by focusing on nutritional wellness. The previous posts in the series include physical wellness and spiritual wellness.
