Neurologist, Resident, and fantastic person, Dr. Clifford Andrew shares “Steps to Take for Healthy Aging”
With over 60 years in medicine—from Columbia to Duke to Johns Hopkins—Dr. Andrew shared a lifetime of wisdom during his talk, “Steps to Take for Healthy Aging.”
He outlined 12 impactful actions across four key areas—Active, Appropriate, Avoid, Accept—designed to help us add years to our life and life to our years as we move through mid-to-late adulthood.
🔹 Stay ACTIVE socially, mentally, and physically
🔹 Make APPROPRIATE choices around sleep, emotional balance, nutrition, and preventive care
🔹 AVOID trauma, harmful substances, and disease risk
🔹 ACCEPT life’s changes with serenity, courage, and wisdom
A reminder that while we can’t change our genes, we can shape our environment—and our future—with these steps. Whether you’re in your 70s or talking to your adult children, it’s never too late (or too early) to start.
Thank you, Dr. Andrew, for the knowledge, humor, and heartfelt advice—and for showing us how to age with intention and grace.
