Roland Park Place is certified as a Bird Friendly Habitat
RPP Resident and chair of the Grounds Committee, Charley Tucker, welcomed residents and guests to celebrate RPP’s designation as a “Bird-Friendly Habitat” by the Maryland Audubon Society and the National Wildlife Foundation.
The attendees learned of the productive collaboration between the latest iteration of the Grounds Committee and the Roland Park Place Facilites Department, the importance of native plants for the existence of wildlife, and the value of native plantings in the bioswales around the RPP campus.
Kay McConnell of Garden Therapy, LLC who has been contracted by RPP to enhance the bioswales shared her work and the three separate plant communities that will be occupy the three bioswales based on their separate environmental aspects.
Vice President of Operations at RPP, Kiril Apostolov, joined Charley Tucker in mounting a sign in the courtyard announcing the Audubon’s certification. Signs can now be seen around campus with the new designations. And as with any event held at RPP, particularly on a warm summer day, refreshments were served!
