Roland Park Place’s holiday food collection campaign to benefit the CARES Food Pantry has begun. CARES is operated by the Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation, or GEDCO, as a food pantry/emergency financial assistance center serving over 5,000 Baltimore City residents each year.
With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, RPP is in full swing to help the pantry by collecting canned fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, soup, ravioli/pasta meals, tuna/canned meats, and instant-coffee. Dry goods such as boxed breakfast cereal, pancake mix, dry milk, crackers, dry soup mix, rice, macaroni and cheese, muffin mix, instant potatoes; personal hygiene and household products to include toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, dental floss, shampoo, soap, and laundry detergent are also needed. Low-sodium foods are appreciated.
While RPP’s collection baskets are available year-round for residents and staff to contribute non-perishable foods, personal hygiene and household products, in order to ensure items are distributed to needy families in time for Thanksgiving, the deadline to contribute to the campaign is Monday, November 19.
