The Best Place to Ride Out a Snow Storm
Snow storms can be beautiful, but they can also be tough. How much snow will we get? How long will I be stuck inside? Will I be able to shovel out? There are so many things to consider, but the residents of Roland Park Place only had to sit back and let the associates handle everything.
A number of associates spent the night ahead of the storm so there wouldn’t be any worry about traveling in to work. The guest apartments and some other spaces were made available for those sleeping over. The care teams were here to make sure residents in the Assisted Living and Health Care spaces didn’t miss a thing.
The dining team made sure Sunday brunch went ahead and residents were able to continue to receive all of their meals. The Landing (the table service restuarant) was closed for service, but residents could still get the full meal from the bistro and utilize the seating in The Landing as well as Neighbors’ Bistro.
The maintenance team worked through the night and the following day to make sure the traffic lanes were clear throughout campus, that the sidewalks were clear for residents taking out their dogs, and then cleaned off every resident parking space and car so that as soon as the roads were safe, the residents were ready to go.
Other departments came in where possible and several managers were here to make sure every service was available to the residents, and Sam Guedouar, the President and CEO lives here on campus so he was ready with a snow shovel and pitching in with the team.
Roland Park Place residents utilize a google group to communicate with one another and the resident sentiment was best summarized through this email to Sam:
“I know that staff don’t have access to Google Groups and I don’t know if the residents’s comments get passed on to them all so I am using you (and also thanking you) for the outstanding effort made by everyone to see that life goes so easily for those of us who live here. So many people have had to rearrange their lives in an effort to take care of us and make everything go smoothly and, as many of the GG writers have said, have done it with warm greetings and smiles to boot. I’m sure that making brunch go smoothly today wasn’t easy but it graciously done. How lucky I am to be living here! Please convey my 100% gratitude to everyone at the next staff meeting.”

Outside of the incredible service the associates provided, the best part of riding out the storm at Roland Park Place is that residents were able to be among their friends, eat together, talk, play cards, and sit back and have fun!
