Roland Park Place Named to Newsweek’s “Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities” List
Baltimore’s first and only accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community, announced today that it has earned a spot on Newsweek & Statista’s 2026 “America’s Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities” list. RPP was named the top continuing care retirement community in the state of Maryland and ranked #5 in the nation.
This year marks the third consecutive year RPP has earned Maryland’s top spot. Additionally, it’s marking a new milestone for the community—moving up from #6 in the 2025 national rankings.
“We are honored to be recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities,” said Sam Guedouar, CEO of Roland Park Place. “In recent years, our team has worked to cultivate a vibrant, supportive and enriching community through expanded resident programming, new lecture partnerships, a strengthened wellness program and a new culinary leader. This achievement reflects their dedication and reinforces our mission to redefine aging with purpose, dignity and joy.”
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs), also known as Life Plan Communities, are facilities that offer a continuum of long-term care options, allowing residents to access higher-level care if or when medical needs progress. The communities typically include independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care and memory care on the same campus.
The rankings are based on four data sources:
· Professional Evaluation – Input from medical professionals, CCRC management/administration staff, acquaintances of residents and current residents
· Visitor Satisfaction – Based on facility visitor data provided by Accushield
· Accreditation Status – Relevant CCRC accreditation programs from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
· Google Reviews – Used as a proxy for overall satisfaction
Earlier this year, RPP was recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the publication’s 2025 Best Senior Living rankings, including “Best” in the Continuing Care Retirement Community category.
